I have a comp that is a full screen fractal noise, and I want to transform that comp to follow a path in a ‘swirl’ shape. I have been told that I can ‘use the strokes as a travel matte for the fractal noise’. The stroke is a simple path with a taper and trim path. How do I create a ‘travel matte’? I have used Alpha Matte and Luma Matte before but never come across travel. Using AE cc2022

Yeah, it’s an old school term for when the animator would “travel” or move a matte layer across the frame – usually to match a camera move by hand.

By the sounds of it, I’m not sure this is what you’re after though. You have a comp of fractal noise and want the whole comp to fly along a path. In which case, I’d draw my path, then select it and then copy the path and paste it into the position property of the comp. This will give you two main keyframes and the comp will move around the path.

Thanks – this is what I am trying to do.

Here I am using a plugin called omino snake to bend and make the comp follow the path – but it will only extend to a certain point (2000px) unfortunately.
