I imagine someone has reproduced them somewhere but I think you could experiment with CC Particle World and get close pretty quickly.

Ah, just re-read the Reddit post. So you want to zoom past the shape, but without it appear to thicker? Would scaling up the shape solve the problem instead of animating the camera move?

I’d use CC Particle World, with the particle velocity and gravity set to 0 and the producer radius probs yo at zero too. Link the producer to a 3D null and copy the path into its position ( https://youtu.be/dYYmeBOWXpw ). The particles will remain in place and act like a 3D stroke

I think you’ve got all the elements you need. I’d just have cut from the closed O to the open O (have the open layer start at the out point of the closed layer). To animate the “burst” on the other side, that’s can be keyframes on the open layer’s path.
Or I’ve misunderstood.

I think all you need is to increase the radius of the orb. Create a 3D camera and move it close in.

I’ve never come across this before. It’s the sort of thing MS Excel would do for dates. Can you make a screen recording of it? I’ve tried but can’t replicate it.

What I think you’ll need to do is use this layer with the mask keyframes as a track matte. So… duplicate the layer (turn off the masks from the lower one) and then alter the position and scale of the upper layer, so that you can shift the mask paths instead of trying to alter the keyframes.
