  • Since no other answers seem forthcoming, rename the folder on the ext drive to something arbitary, create some media from within mc, title tool or mixdown, whatever and specificy the ext drive as the target drive, mc should now create a correctly named folder, drag the media off the card or the old folder into the new media files folder.

Another poff method is to just drag and drop directly from the p2 into a bin having pre checked your import settings.

what codec are you using to render out – I’d suggest trying a targa sequence with no compression. What resolution are you importing at?Do you have an alpha channel, if so render out the fill unpremultiplied. If the sequence has motion then switch motion blur on, depending on the nature of the material, can you blow out just a matte and then create the fill within avid? Try switching the field order, certain codecs can interpolate lines incorrectly..

uh! Is this true for all wav files or a specific file. I can only imagine the media doen’t correspond to the trac data. I’d be tempted to try and create an audio disc form the file and rip from that, or even pull it in analog!

before you kill the cameraman, bear in mind that if its material mastered onto dv then maybe its at 32khz to make use of the second pair of tracks. There is no reason to record at less than 48khz on camera apart from being too lazy to check the menus through after taking the camera out of its wrapper, but I have come across instances of people cloning hd on dv for offline and recording at 32 to free up tracks 3/4 to record m&e. I believe most dv record decks can only utilise tracs 3/4 when recording at 32. what can you expect from a cassette the size of a matchbox!

are you reimporting/batch importing, the error sounds strange if you’re pulling a wav in fresh?

  • I’ve come across it a few times, all you can do is trim a frame or so off whichever segment is creating the problem and re render, the bitch is isolating the clip!

DVD ANALOG OR S VIDEO OUT TO YOU DV DECK/CAMERA – MENU SETTING OR SWITCH TO EXT VIDEO, e to e in old fashioned terms – load to avid with no deck control nor tc via firewire, ok no great quality but real time and codecless(ish!)

when you say burned to dvd…as what? If it’s a domestic dvd then you can download shareware programmes to rip from the dvd to dozens of formats you can just drag and drop into avid, or just load composite or svideo staight off the dvd player in real time if necessary.
