    poss reasons for not working…

any audio fx/gain/automation differances across matching clips will stop the edits from disappearing, or, adjacent clips with matching tape and timecode but from differant masterclips!(ie, someone going back to digitise extensions to clips etc and just adding them on rather than replacing whole clips)

if safe to do so lassoo the whole sequence and keeping hitting backspace until the sequence disappears then undo one step and then try to remove mastch frames… this will lose all automation/gains etc but won’t sole the second poss reason.

    ok

check protools is working at the same operating level as your avid,

    -18db/-20db whatever…

create a protools comp with zero level tone at the top on both legs
followed by your voice over adjusted to peak around -8db.

export the comp as a wav and import to avid and compare meter readings, forget listening levels or perceived volumes to see where the problem lies…

    offline rt-
not in front of fcp nor manual now –

will this allow me to do almost everthing real time? not filtering or col correcting, only editing! The system will be all mac, no black magics etc, firewire capture to native mac card (g5 dual). Will system struggle with real time at dv25?(forgetting storage). My client is a story teller, he will live with compressed vision bu will not appreciate renders?

frame rate options shpold make no differance.

in what format are you exporting from protools? Are you exporting the clip directly or from the protolls timeline?

    could be-
    or
any window/ audio tool, monitor etc with the slightest overlap can cause a huge slow down

check in protools first, are you referenced to the same levels in both applications? As a long term check blow some zero level tone from protools to avid and check they correspond. Boring but at least you’ll be making a real comparison and can narrow down the problem. In the meantime just turn it up, if it was recorded real clean it should be ok.

  • re removing unused footage-read up on “consolidate”, or

    select media relatives
    reverse selection
    backspace

this’ll delete clips you ain’t used at all, but think first!

apologies for answering with a question!
Are you exporting a sequence or clips? video or audio or both?
