I just am having a really lame time trying to do flashy compoisting and FX in Avid Adrenaline, it just seems as though doing FX were an afterthought for Avid. I mean…no composite modes? Doesnt every image altering program have composite modes? Stepping into and out of layers? Can it be done, yes….does it seem that everything takes more steps than it should to do basic FX…yes. it does……

I agree. No composite modes is a lame, lame thing. I bitch about that constantly.

Stepping in and out is pretty easy though. Try mapping your keyboard to step in and out. That help immensley.

I feel like a big complainer here at work, all the Avid editors that dont know any different dont understand. Just seems like a lot of extra work to do things that I do in every other program very easily….PS, FCP, AE, combustion, motion, they all work the same way as far as compositing for the most part……Avid has advanced keyframes…..um….really not very advanced now are they…….goofy interface for FX……

You are justified in your complaints. Avid is aware of its archaic effects-handling (among many other aspects of their software) and are working to correct this. It will take time, but will happen.

For now, if you want to make your requests very noticeable to Avid (in other words, you want to post them where Avid will actually READ them, try posting here: https://www.avid.com/exchange/forums/44/ShowForum.aspx)

Cool, thks for the response….Im glad to see its not just me that thinks this way….usually the response I get for these kinds of coments from “Avid” editors…..(not sure why you would ever label yourself like that but people do) is that Avid is the best and I just need to think differently…..

Avid IS the best, as far as I’m concerned. Unfortunately, it is THEIR thinking that needs to change in lots of areas. They’re still living back in the early-to-mid ’90’s in some aspects, but are realizing that change is not only inevitable, but necessary. Give them some time and they’ll get back on track. They’re working on it.
