When i open my avid program, and then try to minimize it. everything is fine.
but once i play a video in the preview monitor or on the timeline it causes my computer to hang up.

i can’t minmize windows without it taking like 30 seconds to minimize.

once i quit avid the computer goes back to normal.

    any suggestions?

actually i think i was wrong. i think it has to do with the video card.

I switched my avid layout so that the video monitors and the timeline are on the left screen and my bins are on the right.

i think this was confusing my video card, a Nvideia Quadro FX500. i think it wanted to play videos on the right monitor, not the left, and then when i switched my avid layout it caused it to hang up.

does anyone know about this occuring??

    could be-
    or
any window/ audio tool, monitor etc with the slightest overlap can cause a huge slow down

I use this setup also, with no visual problems. Make sure the settings on the displays are correct for this configuration.
