Hi Nick,

There are two variations of MAGIX Vegas Movie Studio. The basic Movie Studio, and the Movie Studio Platinum. They also sell a package called Movie Studio Suite, which is Movie Studio Platinum packaged with various add-ons. I would recommend against the basic Movie Studio and opt for the Platinum or Suite, as they are both full feature Platinum programs.

Just for your info, if you click on the ‘Help’ tab at the top and then ‘About’, it will display which build you are using. And, yes if you downloaded the trial from the MAGIX website it should be the latest version build.

I have never seen a ProDad ReSpeedr plugin for Vegas. ProDad does make their Mercalli 4+ stabilizer program available in a stand alone and plugin versions for Vegas Pro, and they make a new product called Vitascene V3 plugin for Vegas Pro and Movie Studio.

I have also never seen Movie Studio bundled with ProDad ReSpeedr. Do you have a link for that offer that you can share?

I agree, plugin’s usually save a lot of time. Although my experience using the Mercalli 4+ stabilizer plugin is, it works better than the build in VEGAS Video Stabilizer, for some shots that require special settings, using the Mercalli v4+ stand alone provides more tools to get the job done. Again, I have never seen ReSpeedr as a plungin so have no idea how that works.

Hi Dan,

That’s not much to go on! How about some details, history, version and build number, system setup, some details about your project, FX’s and effects you may be using, working in 8 bit or 32 bit?

Have you done a full reset? Hold down the ‘Ctrl+Shift’ keys while double left clicking on the Vegas Pro desktop shortcut. When the small window pops up, check the box ‘Delete all cached application data’, then left click on “Yes’. This will reset Vegas to it’s original installation settings and delete the pesky cached application data that builds up and will sometimes cause Vegas to do strange things.

Hi Kevin,

It’s been a while since I did any firewire captures. There are probably several gizmo’s that may work to capture, but if your camera only feeds HDV through firewire I would just get the adapter and if Vegas doesn’t recognize it, I would use the software included with the adapter to make the capture. Maybe other members here have a better suggestion.

When they issue a driver that creates problems for a program we use, it usually means rolling back to a previous driver that does not create problems and waiting for a future driver that fixes the problem.

I’m not sure what you want. Perhaps I’m incorrect, but using the Super Scale is like applying an FX. It is not going to change the attributes of the clip. The clip attributes are going to stay the same, as is the project settings. What you will have is an uprezed clip, which you then can render out to a higher resolution and the clip may retain more quality as compared to upscaling. Then the rendered file will reflect the appropriate attributes depending on how you change the resolution. Or, I suppose you could use the Super Scale to improve the quality of a low quality clip and keep the resolution the same for the render.

Whether the clip is acceptable will depend on how much Super Scale you have applied, how good the original clip was how much sharpening and noise reduction was used as well as other corrections you may have made, etc.

Not ot long ago I tinkered with Super Scale, but zooming in on a 1080p clip from 1.0 to 13.0, then applied the Super Scale 4x, with sharpening and noise reduction set the medium. There was quite an improvement. Of course not as good as if I had zoomed in with the camera, but pretty good enough, in that example, I may have been able to save the shot.

Perhaps I have failed to understand exactly what it is you want to happen.

Hi Nick,

When you say “I upgraded to Vegas Home Studio”, exactly what program, version, and build are you using? I’m familiar with Vegas Pro and Movie Studio, Movie Studio Platinum in various versions 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, etc. which have been produced first by Sony up to version 13, then after that by Magix.

If your source media from the Panasonic is interlaced, this is what I would change in the Project Properties….

– ‘Field Order’, change to ‘None (progressive scan)’
– ‘Deinterlace method:’, change to ‘Interpolate fields’
– ‘Resample mode:’, change to ‘Disable resample’ (as John suggest)

Then I would render out to Sony XAVC S Long

Then load this video file into ReSpeedr, set your speed setting and render it out to the best quality

Bring that video file back into Movie Studio to use in your project.

Also, are you using the latest ReSpeedr V1.0 build 1.0.44?
