Only function I’ve noticed is when you click somewhere in the timeline, it will park the playhead there, and then you’re free to move the skimmer elsewhere and view what the skimmer sees in the viewer Then if you move the skimmer out of the timeline window, the viewer pops back to the playhead. You can use the skimmer to easily compare shots in other parts of the timeline this way as you slide the skimmer up and down into the timeline window.

hmmmm….if I type the word “flip” in the search field of the effects palette, I found an effect named “Flipped”. Should fit the bill. 🙂

I’m guessing you’re talking about a transition in a timeline…I’m referring to the events palette which now I know I have to go outside X to manage.

It is nice to create sets of customized effects and transitions and organize them any way you want to be used in either FCPX or motion. So yes, I’m happy.

I am away from FCPX today so I can’t try this, but try putting markers where you think it is a good sync point and see if that helps. Also could try putting in points as well, as the manual says it will try to sync using those.

Yes you can. Right click on an effect or transition, select open copy in motion, from motion do “save as”, give it a new name, create a new destination called “Favorites” to put it in, and it will create a new category in Final Cut with your new favorite in it.

One solution is select your effect, right click and open in motion, then save as with a new name back into Final Cut into a new grouping called “Favorites”. Works great.
