  • Borjis – Interesting post and link. Thanks
We have these 2405s also. How are you entering these values into the Dell. I am not seeing any way to do this in setup?

  • [Adrian Tecson] “But I also find the EDL import/export of PP2.0 to be unusable as well. I’m trying to use the BlackMagic DV for offline and then export an EDL but the edl comes out incorrect. Same with importing an EDL from another app or even from PP2.0. One thing I noticed is even though I digitized the footage with timecode, the timecode was incorrect and when I try to change it, it’s still wrong. Could I be doing something wrong?”

Does a printed EDL show this discrepancy?
I don’t know But my printed EDLs show every In/Out of original clips,(as trimmed) as well as where the edit is placed on time line. This was from a 4 cam sync’d multicam 1 hour shoot (1 roaming cam unsync’d). The only numbers that differed were offset split by the length of the transition. What else do you need. Almost all online effects work is recreated from those basic set of numbers. Personally I don’t think any NLE truly supports great EDL conform capability except within its own set of paramaters. Could you be using DF instead of NDF or visa versa or same frame rate (23.97, 24 fps, 30fps etc.)? Although there’s room for improvement from within Adobe, P2_0 is standing pretty tall in terms of delivery. Sorry, but playing with big boys, I think Adobe is one. Every Post house in the country uses their software. When they discover the internal tools of the production suite, more will tend to switch. It is an elegant solution especially for the Botique facility faced with the transition to HD.

  • Are you able to burn data files to the DVD drive when using other software (such as Nero, Roxio, or Sonic Solutions)that your system came with.? That would say whether the DVD drive is even functioning correctly or not. (reading files doesn’t count) Can you export your project using Adobe Media Export within Premiere Pro, as a DVD file from the scroll down.? Premiere Pro will not export directly to a misregistered DVD drive. But if you can export an AVI or DVD file (eliminating the DVD drive) to your system or AV drive, you should be able to get to the root of your problem. With a little help from this forum. you may be able to save $$$ instead of paying long distance support. ouch…

  • Thanks

For feedback Bob and Adam. I didn’t pay attention to who was using what Plasma at NAB, things just got too hectic and it wasnt foremost on my mind. Now it is. Have to agree with Adam though the Plasmas
still look overall better, although I have not seen the Samsung 460. Did look specs up, and it looks interesting.

I don’t know if this will help, but PPro2.0 takes advantage of ASIO enabled soundcards. If your hardware supports it, look under preferences, and Audio hardware. Make sure ASIO is enabled.

It always nice when budget permits having an audio guy on shoots to nip this. Hindsight 20/20. Audition may be able to help though. You can go into Spectral analysis, and generally find the exact ofending band of frequencies that are the culprits. Im no expert here, but have seen it used very effectively. You can cut out the offending audio using this spectral view, and copy/paste adjacent views in place of. It works much better than the noise reduction presets, but is much more time intensive to use especially if a long chunk of audio needs treatment. Hopefully someone who does this frequently can help you here. (maybe even post a tutorial on this subject.)

  • Hi Dangerd

To save you a little headache, The A8n32 Sli does not work well with multibridge extreme. The PCIe bus will be swamped by your Nvidia 7900, and MultiBridge will not run.

    PS
We have been Matrox reseller, and local support for 5 years now.

  • You can generally do this if you import your footage, and render/export to desired format codec requirements. It takes a little longer but we do it all the time, (software based editing)

  • If you want absolte platform interchange compatibility, look on Ebay for a second RTX100, (maybe with Video Bundle,) and a cheap intel 875 chipset system to go with. You should be able to build the whole banana for less than $2200. Actually this is a great system, and you can save your bucks for newer system technology, when it shakes out. Sometimes you got to make money with what you got.

  • Not much system info here to go on, but a couple of things you may try. Close all of the task bar items on the bottom of screen right side down icons. Also it may help to resize your paging file in system control panel. Typically windows will manage this, but you can make it equal to 2x times the amount of system RAM fairly safely (make min and max equal). Also CS2 preferences lets you manage the amount of RAM that is allocated to PhotoShop/and other applications, along with where you want temp directories. Check under preferences, and toggle through. Part of what you will be doing here is managing system resources. With a little caution, and help from other forum users, you should be able to get around your problem.
