Broadcast monitor set up wiht Cinema 23″ G5 Quad Multibridge Extreme and FCP 5
Posted by Robin on May 17, 2006 at 12:59 amHi Guys
Is there any instruction sheet available to help me calibrate and set up my cinema 23″ as a broadcast monitor from FCP. Currently cutting an HDV project.
Help very much appreciated.

May 17, 2006 at 1:09 am… how are you feeding the 23″? Via HD-Link or off the G5 monitor card? Unfortunately there’s no easy solution that anyone has come up with… other than: don’t use it for critical color.
According to Apple the Cinema Displays are native 6500K… but they seem cooler than that compared to my BVM monitor (which is calibrated to a T) I’ve eye matched an HDLink setup as close as I could, but I can’t trust the 23″ for color.

May 18, 2006 at 2:39 amI monitor on both a Dell 24″ lcd and a Sony broadcast 900 line SD monitor.
I monitor the lcd through dvi-d out of my multibridge extreme.
I do have a defined lookup table that matches my crt very close to the lcd.
(as close as is possible really)What I have noticed is that the lcd colors are “richer” than the crt.
If your using your multibridge for dvi-d monitoring i would be happy to post
my lookup table for you. -

May 18, 2006 at 10:13 pmHere’s the url for the lookup table I use on my Multibridge Extreme DVI-D to my Dell 24″ LCD Monitor. It is calibrated as close as I can get to match my Sony CRT SDI Studio Monitor (BVM-20F1U)

May 21, 2006 at 1:37 pmHello,
I don’t have the multibridge extreme, instead I am using the Decklink Pro Hd Pcie and HDLINK for monitoring. I also have a Dell 2405 FPW.
Can I also load this lookup table directly to the HDLink?Greetings

May 22, 2006 at 4:20 pmI suppose it should work.
The multibridge has an HDLink built into the unit.

May 23, 2006 at 6:26 amBorjis,
When you hook up the Dell to the Multibridge for monitoring SD definition do You see any horizontal artifacts, sort of lines outside the image?
I have seen this on my Dell when connected to the HDlink.
Blackmagic Support told me that there is an electrical issue with the Dells.
Same configuration with the cinema display and everything is ok.
By the way,
when You were making the LUT for the Dell, did You judge the image by eye comparing it to a CRT or did You use some sort of instruments?
I am asking because I would like to make a lut for the Cinema Display since something seems to be wrong with my DellGreetings
