In my studio, I have the MOTU 896HD working not only as an input device for Vegas, but it controls the output to the monitors.I don’t think you’ll have any latency problems with firewire-based units.
Today’s standards for what? It’s certainly good enough for professional applications.

No real fast way. You’d have to render each one out. You can do this with batch render to be more effecient (and unnatended). I would suggest lining them up sequentially, making each clip a seperate region and batch render the regions to whatever folder you want.
Just as a ponint of information, you can apply your FX to the separate files on a project level, then they will have their FX automatically wherever you use them in the project. However, rendering them as you suggest will probably imrove your playback frame rate.

Any control surface with Midi interface should work, though you may have to spend some time assigning controls if it’s not directly supported (like this one).
Any input device with proper drivers would allow you to assign different inputs to different tracks.I use a Mackie Control surface and a MOTU audio I/O.

As you scrub across in the keyframe control timeline, you can see the variables change over time in whatever FX window is open.
If you right-click on a keyframe you can choose from different interpolation curves.

Something is corrupt. Can you just switch the Project Media tab to List or Detaled view to avoid the thumbnails?

Unless I am missing something in your question, the answer would seem to be that you render using one of the several 24p options under avi.

If you’re saying that it crashes when the playback starts, turn off the auto preview button.

Set up a rectangular mask using the Pan/Crop Bezier tool. You can have it hard or soft edged with the feathering on or off.

Edward answered this one recently by suggesting that it be set up as as one graphics image, then use keyframes to move the text accross the screen and pause when you want. That’s how I would do it as well.

Use the different keyframe interpolations (e.g. Linear, Fast, Smooth etc) to affect how the motions pass through the keyframe points.
