Then ask a more direct question, rather than posting in a old thread. There have been 2 major updates to ProRes and I think 3 minor ones since it was released as part of FCS2
The original IO line of products did not support prores until the IoHD was released in 2007

Pretty much, the V2.0 software I demo’d at NAB had a good deal of the features most people are still scrambling for.
It should come with RS422, embedded audio, gang recording and playback.

Not sure when it is scheduled for release, but it should be sometime over the next month or 2.

Are you referring to the Compress HD card?

I use one for my H.264 compressions in 2 of my Kona workstations and cannot believe the speed and control the card gives me. I find that when I am compressing multiple versions of a master for clients that the Matrox Compress HD card is far and away the best hardware based solution I could find, I also do not have gamma issues with h.264 encodes when I am using the card.

It would be 500% better if I did not have to use Compressor to drive it.

nope, not yet.

first- the HPX 170 does not support 8 channels of audio.

Second -since kipro was designed as an onboard recorder, the unit does not currently support more than 2 channels of audio on capture. That function is to be added in the version 2.0 software that has been announced but not yet been released.

and if you choose to handle audio as analog – there are only 2 channels available.
Yes using analog audio in, your choice will over ride all other audio passing via HDSDI- there is no capability to assign or handle remapping of the audio channels.

The kona 2 is a pci/x bus card, you can only capture as ProRes on an intel computer, and the intel machines are all pcie as far as I know.

What computer are you trying to capture on?

Which kona card? Some like the kona 3 require firmware upgrades when installing new drivers.
You do not mention anything about how you set up CS5 or if you opened the kona control panel.

More info about OS version and which card would help.

are you using the RT Extreme engine, is it set to Unlimited on your timeline?
if so it is rendering at 8bit for all non-ProRes content.
