after setting all the ins and outs and doing batch capture, the window that previews in the computer monitor flicks all the time.
If you are talking about your computer’s monitor- I have never seen one refresh at faster than 15 frames. This is one reason why most people set that monitor to be off/ blank during captures, this can be set in the fcp prefs.

[jon smitherton] “how do I deliver 1080p from a 1080i timeline with this card? does “1080 progressive” drop a field on the way out? “
OK
FIrst off your Panasonic camera shoots P but the playback is as PsF- the transport and playback are interlaced.Since you are in PAL set the deck to record normally (as Psf) and your tape will be 50i.
There is no pulldown in PAL countries it is a straight conversion.gary adcock

July 1, 2010 at 12:59 pm in reply to: Preview on computer while capturing with Premiere CS5[Alfred Hermosa Hernández] “1. Capture: We have to set the capture to HDV instead Aja cause if we don’t do like that it’s impossible to capture. “
1) HDV is a highly compressed camera acquisition format, not a post format- playback is not an issue from HDV, but capture is not possible.
“. Capture: Set the capture settings in HDV we can’t preview what we are capturing on the computer even though in any other display like a control monitor. The only way to watch it is connecting the dvcam player via firewire and a HDMI wire to the control monitor to preview. “
you will not be able to watch a capture over FW simultaneously out the video card, you are telling the software to ignore the card while capturing.
That Kona is an I/O card- you need to have it setup for your workflow- didn’t the place you bought it from offer that service?

It is the same process as is used when projecting motion picture film in a theatre and all 1080 HD content for broadcast is handled in this manner.
Yes it is confusing, one simple rule is only 720 is true P all the time, 1080 is all of the above.

It has less to do with FCP than it does with which OS and QT versions you are running.

That looks more like a error in the white shading. There is not much you can do after the fact- checking the camera manual to properly white shade the lens will minimize or eliminate this issue.
My guess is some where in the video there is a similar issue in the complimentary color on the other side of the frame.
This comes from a mis-alignment of the 3 color CCD’s caused by the differing transmissive qualities of each manufacturers lenses.

How are you connected to the deck? Composite or component? Did you choose analog input in the kona control panel? This cannot be done from within final cut- you must configure inputs in the Aja control panel in the Applications folder.
