  • Preview on computer while capturing with Premiere CS5

    Hi everybody!
We just bought new Macs Pro with the Aja Kona Lhi installed and the Adobe production premium CS5.
First of all, we updated everything till maximum, and seems to work quite fine.
But there’s many things that we can’t find to solve when working on premiere.

    1. Capture: We have to set the capture to HDV instead Aja cause if we don’t do like that it’s impossible to capture.
    2. Capture: Set the capture settings in HDV we can’t preview what we are capturing on the computer even though in any other display like a control monitor. The only way to watch it is connecting the dvcam player via firewire and a HDMI wire to the control monitor to preview.

    Any solutions?
P.s. we know that cs5 it’s just new and there are several things to fix, and compatibilities to solve but… i hope the fix them but i hope the fix them soon. Till then maybe it’s better to capture on final cut maybe?

Thaks a lot for read it!!!!

[Alfred Hermosa Hernández] “1. Capture: We have to set the capture to HDV instead Aja cause if we don’t do like that it’s impossible to capture. “

    1) HDV is a highly compressed camera acquisition format, not a post format- playback is not an issue from HDV, but capture is not possible.

“. Capture: Set the capture settings in HDV we can’t preview what we are capturing on the computer even though in any other display like a control monitor. The only way to watch it is connecting the dvcam player via firewire and a HDMI wire to the control monitor to preview. “

you will not be able to watch a capture over FW simultaneously out the video card, you are telling the software to ignore the card while capturing.

That Kona is an I/O card- you need to have it setup for your workflow- didn’t the place you bought it from offer that service?

    Hey!!!

Finally we found the solution! The point was that working with Aja Kona LHi the firewire we connect to the Dvcam player works as a way to control the machine through the computer so what we have donw is connect via HDMI wire to the Aja Kona LHi connection panel an set the parameters to INPUT: HDMI video and HDMI audio, the the output set to COMPONENT Out to connect to a control monitor and that’s all. We can capture using AJA codecs without problems and watching at the same time the preview on computer and control monitor!!!!

But thanks a lot for the answeeeerrrr!!!!!!
