[David Roth Weiss] ” again want to apologize to you for my misunderstanding early on in this maelstrom when I misconstrued some of what you’d written in you initial piece on X. And, I hope we’re okay on that.”

We are, no need to worry my friend.

You get credit too David, there are numbers of people out there without the wherewithall to admit when mistakes are made. It takes quite the individual to apologize.

June 26, 2011 at 4:49 pm in reply to: FCPX Drivers?

[Bill Portune] “Any forthcoming drivers for the IoHD and FCPX? The IoHD wasn’t mentioned at all in the AJA info document regarding FCPX…”

    Bill

I am going to go out on the ledge here, but if FCPX barely supports 2 year old computers, I kinda doubt that it will work with any other hardware older than that like that IoHD is.

June 25, 2011 at 4:04 pm in reply to: 5D Directory Problem

[Matt Callac] “est footage with a 5D just now, and backed up the card to one of my drives. Tried to import a camera archive and got this error
“5D_Tests” contains unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure. Please choose a folder whose directory structure matches supported media.””

    How did you do this?

DSLR media will need to be read via the ” file import” or if the card was imaged properly (ie-disc image) you should be able to open see the image on the desktop via the Open Archive at the bottom of the camera import window.

    [Adam Porter]
“Kernel Extensions in backtrace (with dependencies): com.aja.iokit.kona3(8.0)@0x61050000->0x61097fff”

Adam, have you updated the firmware on the cards also? – this line appears to say you are working K3 v8.0 driver

    note;
I have not downloaded or tried any of the new AJA software release.

    For the record.

Apple loaned me a system with the app pre-installed in my role as a reviewer, I flew to NYC on my own dime to pick it up. and YES it has to be returned.

I also did buy all of the software out of my own pocket.

I have owned Apple Stock since before there was a Final Cut Pro and it has made a bunch of money for me. I was never given any.

I am founder and Past President of the Chicago Final Cut Pro Users Group, I did a preso on FCPX just this week

I work with a number of companies that create tools that work with FCP7. I have made money teaching people FCP, desigining workflows and solving workflow issues for years
I work with FCP almost daily and I still have a love hate relationship

I posted here on the COW the first part what is consider a balanced insight into the App and I plan to continue that.

I have no issue at all with Full disclosure.

[Christopher Delaine] “Does FCPX have native Stereoscopoic 3D support or do I have to purchase a plug-in?”

    Neither at this time.

And it is a huge part of my business right now.

Odd – but then there are quite a few odd things that we’ll need to get used to for now.

I think many of the key cmd changes were a bit too arbitrary why leave in the easy ones but why change out insert, overwrite etc.- because the actual function changed ? not really

June 24, 2011 at 8:20 pm in reply to: Reference Movies

[Jeffrey Werth] “I don’t if anyone has mentioned this, but is there any way to export a reference movie”

    As Simon said- no.

This is more because of the way media is handled here with all of the behind the scenes rendering and such it is much more dificult to handle the media simply for a QT REF worklfow.
