I have not been able to access any media via ethernet, no servers, no drobo, nothing.
Attached volumes over fibre, FW, Sata, USB all work.

Yes there is.
Serial control is usually supported by the 3rd party hardware, my PPro has serial control when using tools from Matrox, Aja and BMD.
if you do not have an output card there is not really a need for serial control is there?

if you were correct there would be no such thing as 720p.
pulldown works with true progressive content also.

Guys
Contol clck on a Clip Connection and select the” break apart clip items ” or Shft-CMD-G
The connections all stay because of the metadata, but the elemental parts are now adjustable.

Given that the big positive story is meant to be all about how metadata has changed eveything, why can’t I see the timecode (or any other useful data other than keywords) of my source clips in the Event library?
Also useful is the Info palette, it carries all of the info you are looking for.

What about using FCPX as the File importer? Especially from DSLR or other media, often times it needs the most work color matching, then you could output color corrected ProRes for editing in FCP7.
Color matching is then part of the data management and file conversion step.

I did not now that Apple was going to EOL (end of line) the previous version of FCS, yes that does change somethings but not alot, there are Boxes of software still available even if Apple is no longer selling them
I cannot call something an upgrade that does not require a previously installed (or serialised) version of the same app or is unable to open any previous project from any version.
If an upgrade is defined by allowing you to open a previous version of content from that App, then this is an upgrade from iMovie (project file FCPX can open) rather than FCP.
