MMMM…
True P in a component analog video connection?Nope, that pathway usually requires playback of a PSF signal,
Try sending that same “True P” signal over the HDSDI and it should work correctly with the FSI monitor.

Output Mode (in the Video Preview Settings Window) to any of the AJA Kona3G 1080psf settings, which results in a blurry interlaced preview on my broadcast monitor, jagged and/or blurry edges”Since you do not explain how you are connecting the K3g to your monitor nor what time of monitor it is, it is difficult to assist.

[keith mottram] “I can actually work at 23.98 or 24 in my Avid (6.5) obviously this is a somewhat new development. “
Only on Avid’s, every other NLE has done this for awhile now.
23.98fps is the standard for acquisition with most camera systems for NTSC work, even film is is scanned and transferred at 23.98.
That 24.0 stuff will NOT playback on a CRT, cannot be converted to 23.98 or 29.97 in realtime without large amounts of hardware.
[keith mottram] ” FCPX says 108024p if it is doing anything to the true 24p quicktimes in the timeline- ie retiming them in some way.”
No, FCP as an app has never done anything to the original file unless you overwrite it. (Unlike AMA which can error on ingest of non-native formats if not properly setup).

[keith mottram] ” wanted to know if FCPX is treating them at 23.98 or if it is actually 24p.”
This is not an FCP thing, since it is the same on your Avid system they just do not tell you.
In the US 24p has always been timed at 23.976 (rounded to 23.98) due compensate for drop frame TC issue in NTSC.
It is difficult to playback 24.0 fps on most NTSC displays

[John-Michael Seng-Wheeler] “I used on a shoot with the Alexa in Jan. I had to unplug and replug it a few times when it didn’t mount the card at first, but other then that it worked great.”
Sonnet posted an updated driver from Sony in October that seems to have fixed the issues related copying the data over TB.

February 11, 2013 at 4:16 pm in reply to: Workflow: 1080 60p from Panasonic HDC-TM700 camera[Jonas Bendsen] “When it DOES in fact exist on this camera. It may only exist via USB/File Transfer, which Mr. Adcock later admits, but it absolutely exists (i.e. You can shoot “true” 60p with this camera). If Mr. Adcock had stated that 60p does not exist on the video out, which apparently is what was required for HIS needs, that would have been a completely different conversation.”
Mr Brendsen,
A little late on the reply ( that thread and comments were posted July 2010)I stated a number of times in that thread about trying to be able to see and handle the SIGNAL from the camera as 60p, that is a very different task than working with a file based workflow.
It was stated here https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/8/1095041 and my commentary and explanation was carried over 13 additional posts to which I did correct my oversight here https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/8/1106368

[Nigel Thompson] “Does or did Arri mention anywhere that the Alexa’s will be or are upgradable to future sensors?”
Arri has not made any announcements about upgradability of the camera sensor. While other things like the ability to use different media types in the camera have been discussed, Arri has not shown anything publicly.
Arri has made many statements about “pixel quality over pixel count” with the most recent discussing the 4K deliverables for Skyfall from the ARRIRAW acquisition. https://bit.ly/WtFAfq

[Jeff Kirkland] “..or have completely missed what the OP was trying to do?”
That’s why I suggested AE. The physical output limitation is different than delivering verticals, there are fixed limitations in FCP and Avid that limit the files and formats that can be used.
Why have to force a tool to do a job it was not intended to do? AE is designed for this type of layout and deliverable and is what most multiscreen designers I know use to create presentations.
the other option, though a bit harder IMHO would be Motion.
