  • No progressive Video Preview in After Effects through AJA Kona3G

    Greetings everyone.

I’m a new Kona user, and I’m running into a problem getting my Kona 3G to play well with After Effects CS6 on my mac pro system.

Currently I can only get the AJA Video Preview of my 1920 x 1080 23.976 composition if I set my
Output Mode (in the Video Preview Settings Window) to any of the AJA Kona3G 1080psf settings, which results in a blurry interlaced preview on my broadcast monitor, jagged and/or blurry edges.

I would like to be using one of the AJA Kona3G 1080p settings so I can get a true progressive preview, but it seems like ONLY the interlaced settings for Video Output will work out of After Effects. Any time I use any of the AJA 1080p settings all I get is a blank screen from AE, only the “psf” and “i” settings work…

While troubleshooting I discovered I can get it to preview my 1920×1080 composition by using AJA Kona3G 525i, but none of the progressive settings will work, I just get a blank screen

    I’m running AE CS6 11.0.2.11

I installed all the latest Kona Drivers, and have NOT installed the After effects drivers (only the premiere and photoshop ones) as per the instructions that came with the installers.

I even put a call into AJA about this and the person I spoke to was stumped as well, so any help would be appreciated.

Since you do not explain how you are connecting the K3g to your monitor nor what time of monitor it is, it is difficult to assist.

    Thanks for the response!

I’m running YPbPr using the standard Kona Breakout Cables into my Flanders Scientific LM-2340W monitor.

    MMMM…
True P in a component analog video connection?

Nope, that pathway usually requires playback of a PSF signal,

Try sending that same “True P” signal over the HDSDI and it should work correctly with the FSI monitor.
