but video is NOT RGB, it is closer to “CIE Lab” Color than it is to RGB.
Entering RGB values will not work in a Y’Cr’Cb’ color space that HD video works in.

The issue I had is that I have not seen or worked with any of the USB3 KiStor modules or the New dock with both USB3 and TB so I had to dig around to find out which connector Aja went with.

Many of the original KiStor modules use only FW800 and all modules except for the 750 have both connections.
I believe that aja uses the Micro B connector on the device side, with a Standard A USB on the Other, and these should be available at any computer store.

“That sounds more like you require more computational power than you have. Effects and composting require RAM and GPU power as well as fast drives. I personally find the G-Raids to run about about 300MBps over Thunderbolt, but less in the LaCie D2 drive, the D2 is an single drive whereas the G-Raid is 2 disc’s mounted as single volume and as a spinning disc you are limited well below that for speed.
As a note with newer technologies, “cheaper” is often akin to “disposable” when talking about hardware.
You will get better drive performance from mulit disc arrays or from a single solid state volume than you can from a single spinning disc.

ARRIRAW is about 10 GB’s per minute of recording, as I posted when the Alexa was new, post requirements are around 300MB/s for realtime playback. (It is recorded via Dual 3G or Quad HDSDI in external recorders) For safety I would tell them to work towards 350MBps to 400MBps for the storage.

Make sure to tell your IT guy it needs to be a sustained data rate and not burst speeds.
Be Prepared to have them laugh, most of them do not get data rates needed to sustain this type of imagery.

Chances are the file was not finalized completely after you ended the recording, if so there is little you can do, short of sending the file to a recovery service.
When recording takes in excess of 2 hours, it takes a few minutes to close the file out, on a 4 hour record, it would have taken 15min or so to close the file correctly.
What software are you using for the edit, note that FCP 7 cannot create a timeline that long.
Which software version are you using and what was the record format.

Proper colorists grade footage in LogC.
If you apply a lut in software how are you to be sure that very same LUT will be applied? if not exactly the same your looks will never match your intent.

David,
the level of ND does not affect the IR as much as multiple filters does, IRND filters should be used on all newer digital cameras as conventional IR filters were designed for film and not the specific issues of “compounding” where the IR signal coming out of the first filter does not fall in line with the narrower parameters of flim’s IR resistance as it passes thru the second filter in order.
Tiffen and to a larger extreme Schneider have worked tirelessly to create new filters designs that have adopted a wider latitude for IR blocking that is required on the more IR sensitive digital sensors than it ever was for film recording.
