This is now a second time we have had this issue.
We have the Ki Pro Mounted as the primary record deck in a mobile production trailer.

When we bring the footage back from the trailer the footage is corrupted. The file time length is correct but the file gets stuck in a 3 second loop within a few minutes of the show. So we have 4 hours of a 3 second repeat. Has anyone had this issue?

Chances are the file was not finalized completely after you ended the recording, if so there is little you can do, short of sending the file to a recovery service.

When recording takes in excess of 2 hours, it takes a few minutes to close the file out, on a 4 hour record, it would have taken 15min or so to close the file correctly.

What software are you using for the edit, note that FCP 7 cannot create a timeline that long.

Which software version are you using and what was the record format.

The file had plenty of time to close. I edit on an Avid Media Composer 6.0. And we were recording on the DNX 145 option on the drive.

Also I forgot to mention the file has all the audio from the 4 hours but the video does the 3 second looping problem.

My boss and I think it is a bad deck or possibly power fluctuation problem. Our trailer config has been the same for a year now and we never ran into this problem before.

What does Aja support say? sounds like an issue with the DNX encode.

Hi Ryan. I typically experience about a 10 – 20% failure rate with corrupt files on the Ki-Pro. The good news is, that most of the time the file will still play on the Ki-Pro. Just hook it up to a machine with an SDI capture card, and you can recover the file that way.

The file plays back from the ki pro with the same problem.

Hmmm… Sorry sounds like you have a bigger issue then. Maybe the drive wasn’t seated or something along those lines? Gary would be the one to figure this one out.

    Hello Chuck

Have you been in touch with AJA technical support regarding the corruptions you are experiencing?

Provided files are closed down correctly using the slot button and there’s no problem with the Ki Stor/s I don’t think you should be seeing these corruptions.

    Best regards

AJA believed that the Hard Drive went bad. We are being sent a new one and we are return the bad one. Thanks for everyone’s advice.

I am a little late to the party, but I have had this happen before. The problem is just as Gary sated. the file did not close correctly. It’s a real pain to fix, but most of the time it is recoverable. Try https://aeroquartet.com they have a tool that can tell you if you can recover the file. Then get out your credit card.
