September 30, 2011 at 8:16 pm in reply to: FCP XML problems that should be fixed!

    eric,
you can’t assume that nothing is working without being certain that you are doing things right..

you are saying that XML is not working in resolve at all …
    well that is not true

it totally works for me (even multitrack etc..)

yes sometimes that are some circumstances where something does not relink , but in that case you have to chase the issue and try to reproduce it , so BMD can fix …but you can’t say “”xml is not working ”
    that is just not true

as far as 239.97 on 29.97 , if the original media is 23.98 resolve will look for 23.98 TC , so ou have to convert the TC of the XML/ del for that …

i wish people could research more before complaining

it is not the same …
lightspace plugin (i have the one for SCRATCH ) it play the pachas in sync with the lighspace software , no need to slow down the playback of the patches or press play on both the systems at the same time to keep them in sync …

    wow…

but is still hope that resolve will have a preparer retime engine …i conform edits with speed changes all the time and most of them are so simple that they don’t go to flame ,
so i wish i could export the final image with embedded speed changes from resolve…

September 25, 2011 at 4:03 pm in reply to: RGB monitoring for DCP output?

would like to ask few equation about this as well :

when grading for DCP off course the first step calibrate your monitor gamut as wide as possible (DCP P3 )

    but :
does it make sense sending YUV Rec709 SDI signal to the monitor ?
should it Be RGB unscaled ?

robert mention that resolve can send XYZ over the SDI ? but would the monitor show proper color ?

XYZ conversion : are those Lut to convert “”safe”” meaning that what and how much the image could shift ? compared to work XYZ from the beginning (if is possible without a DCP compliant projector …)

    thanks

  • Thanks Fred!
    that i a great trick !

PS i would like to add that i would love to have resolve supporting a dual monitor GUI setup and having the possibility to expand on the second monitor whatever window we like (like Nodes or curves or animation….)

  • i agree …

but probably should ask what conform match the versions to (because sometimes on commercial world you have multiple conforms that use different versions (when the edit change (like for example the 15″ cut down of a 30″ ) even the grade of some shots change (because influenced by the previous and next shot

but when you have a 2H features and they give you the revised edit …yes this would be very very very useful …

or : a button that say : make all the version in Use the default one (so in case of the full length film with 3000 cuts this would work …)
