Playing back timeline in C-sort mode?
Posted by Robert Glanns on September 22, 2011 at 3:01 amIs it possible to play back all the shots in my FCP-imported timeline in true C-sort mode?
I know I can switch the Color timeline to “Source” and display the thumbnails in C-mode, but if you actually play the timeline in this mode, it will still play back with the original edit sequence mode.

September 22, 2011 at 8:39 amTrue C-mode with reel numbers doesn’t work properly,
The work around is in the conform page right click on your session and choose “create session with handles” (handles being zero) this will give you a true C-mode sort!Hands up who would like the C-mode function fixed where the time line sorts first by reel number and then by timecode..
Me! – that’s 1

September 22, 2011 at 11:11 amTry holding ‘Command’ and press the ‘page up’ and ‘page down’ buttons to toggle between A and C mode. That should do it.

September 22, 2011 at 3:05 pmThat toggles between Record and Source, but for some reason, my AAF imports are still displayed with handles — ie I can’t see my original edit in any mode.

September 22, 2011 at 5:18 pmI know you can switch the timeline sort to C-mode, as I already mentiones in my original post.
The problem I was asking about is that this mode is only useful for visually sorting the timeline, and not actually playing it back in c-mode.

September 24, 2011 at 6:20 pmThis has been a huge oversight since the first build. I’ve been very frustrated with the lack of a true C-mode sort. Toggling the up/down arrow simply sorts in source code order, with NO source reel sorting. This makes it completely useless for most long form work.
True C-mode sorts the reel names first, then the source code, so all the clips from the same reel are lined up. This is imperative for correcting by reel first, then fine tuning by clip. In a Preconform workflow this is the only way to correct based on reels. Not having it is a huge disadvantage.
BMD, PLEASE FIX THIS!! Pleeeeease!
