Yes, I need to do it in AE. 750 layers, spread across 9 screens for a total of 13K resolution… FCP, Avid, Premiere couldn’t handle it.

All I really need is output what i see:

Layer name, In, Out, Duration

I think I’m going to experiment with a BM card going to a slingbox HD via HDMI. Should work great.

The only way I’ve figured a workaround is to use a comp as a holding place, drop the edit in it, copy the layer and use CMD-OPT-V to paste it exactly where I want it.

OK so I did that. Took 3 days to transcode… Now I have 500 GB of Apple Prores Proxy and somehow it refuses to reconnect to the clips in the project… It seems that I tried about every reconnect option (vers. 6.5) any ideas?

It succeeded at reconnecting a bunch once on one machine but now I can’t make it happen on the laptop.

Hey Walter,

Any reason you might know of why overlay edit won’t work? I click on it and no edit is made. Working on 3 hours of sleep for the last 3 days so it’s probably something simple I’m overlooking…

Thanks for the Sync option in the preferences… I had finally figured it out! Makes things a lot easier.

Completely understand the ‘edit in NLE’ suggestion and I completely agree with you… except in this case. I’m putting together an 18 min film with 9 screens in 360 degrees. I tried everything and have done pre-work in fcp and premiere but nothing beats AE to lay the film out properly.

I think I might’ve renamed video tracks and reordered them… can’t remember now. Somehow, when I add a video track, it doesn’t add it on top. Here’s a screen shot.

Basically I get no image from V3 but if I play the playhead, V2 &V4 will show an image. Thx!:
