I’m sorry to say that I could not replicate your problem. All the .WAV and .AIFF dropped in Levelator came out as expected. Could an delete/re-install fix it ? Have you tried it on another PC ?

That is odd. I’ve just tested various .WAV files with different bit depth (up to 32) , using Win 10 Pro. No issues.
Could it be that you tried to drag a non-compatible file and it’s just sitting there stuck in a loop, not responding ?
I’ll run some more scenarios and get back to you.

Addendum: To other readers of this post, I forgot to mention that it will only work with .WAV and .AIFF files. You will need to convert your file(s) before using it.

If you have voice only (not great for music) you can also use Levelator. It works beautifully to normalize your track(s) and get rid of those pesky drops in the level. The overall end result will make you wonder how you managed before without it. If you want to try it, it’s a freeware. Download link below.

You may want to try these 2 options.
1- When using an external drive, the path name changes. Could be Drive E: on your PC and become Drive H: on your notebook. Also look at the rest of the srting and make sure that everything matches.
2- Have a read at this older post. The pertinent stuff is at the end.

As Chris Wright mentioned, Win 10 may not be the right OS to work with.
I for one haven’t had the best experience with transferring Mini DVs with Win 10. (I use a ZR200)
The best way I found was to use one of my old laptops running Win 7 (with the legacy driver) and one of my older version of Vegas (V. 9) using the Capture Video feature and dumping everything on an external drive. You can also work with XP, I’m pretty confident you can find one for dirt cheap if not for free.

Just out of curiosity, are all of your files on your time line(s) from the same source ? You can also certify that none of them are variable frame rate ? (not bit rate)

The reason I’m asking is that Vegas 11 was the last version that could run off a 32 bit system. 32 bit systems, like yours, can only use a theoretical maximum or 4 Gigs of RAM. All of that is fine and dandy but once your system is up and running (Idle) you would have something like 3.4 Gigs left. Once you start a program (i.e. Vegas) that amount drops again. When you get to rendering, there is not much of the minimum required to run you OS, all of your background operations and your Vegas tasks.
Granted, your version of Windows has what they called Page Files (virtual memory). When your RAM becomes full, Windows moves some of the data from your RAM back to your hard drive. Back and forth. You can imagine how strenuous it can be on your system, especially when rendering. At some point, it just gives up.
There are no 2 ways about it, video editing requires a powerful computer if you want to go beyond straight cut only editing. Treat yourself to a better system. Doing a search on Google will yield a ton of information about what to get or how to build a proper one according to your available budget.
