    Hi John

As far as I know Vegasaur is the only tool that will do that …and more.

These are just quick screen grabs to show some of the options available. (ticked boxes are not exactly right)
Vegasaur gives you the option of applying the changes to everything or not.

    It’s worth every penny.

    Cheers !

    Hi Barry

Have you tried rendering with GPU acceleration OFF ?

Also, some transitions (or combination of transitions/effects) can be very CPU/Memory intensive.

    Cheers !

    Hi Joseph

Before rendering, it’s preferable to match what is required for your end use as stated in the Vegas Help

It will also make life easier for you if all of your clips are of the same format.

When using files from different non-matching sources, I will render a copy of all the files to the same lossless format. Personally, I found this to be (99.999%) surprise free when editing and compositing.

Maybe I’m reading this wrong but from what I can read on Sony’s and Canon’s web site pertaining to specifications related to recording formats, they seem to record in the same format. Your post about both cameras show different Field Order you may have options in your camera menus that you can modify and have both output the same type of file.

One thing you should do before buying the XA-40 is to rent one for a day, try it out, take the file and see how it interacts with the other ones in your NLE.

Just like a car, it’s nice to take it for a test drive before forking out your hard earned moolah.

As a side note, if you’re not interested in using 4K, why spend the extra dollar for this feature.

    Cheers !

    Hi Joseph

I recommend you read this wiki link regarding AVCHD

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AVCHD

And here’s the link for MP4’s. It’s plural because there is more than one type of MP4

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG-4

I would also direct you to the included help files in Vegas regarding your properties. For starters, check out what it says about Field Order and also the other fields. This way you can set up your properties to you specifications.

All of the above is written way better and more extensively that I could muster.

    Remember, knowledge is power !

  • Hi Abi

Is your 1080 file and your 720 file the exact same thing ?

You have to remember that an MP4 is just a container, just like a box. What’s inside can be different from one file to the other .

    Hers’s a technical read about that = https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG-4

    Hi Stjepan

I’m not sure what you mean with your first pic (full screen with bloby drawn white outline)

As for the second one, it is normal that it flashes so that you can rapidly see where your cursor is situated on your timeline.

As for not seing your text, it may be that your are typing black letters on a black background. Change the color of your font or the color of your background.

    Cheers !

  • Hi Bob

Sorry about the delay. Was out of the country.

Well, I guess your right, you can’t save the effects and the keyframes in one preset. At some point I seem to remember being able to in one of the early versions (can’t remember the one) I even tried with Vegasaur to no avail. My take on this would be to save your effects as a preset and your keyframes as a separate preset.

If someone else has a better solution, I for one would be happy to know.

    Cheers

  • Hi Bob

Have you tried saving your Plugins and Pan/Crop as a FX Package ? it should save all of your animation keyframes with it.

  • Hi Jake

You can create a folder anywhere on you computer (including an external drive) and save it in there. When you get to that window that you posted, just hit browse, find your folder, open it and save it there. Easy as pie.
