January 29, 2007 at 10:42 pm in reply to: Portable Green Screens (Needing recomendations)I had no additional information at the time of my last post, that’s why it was generic. I just found out it would be for full length shots. Probably should have the capabilities for the talent to walk into a shot for keying- possibly into a virtual set or something similar. Any additional recommendations would be appreciate, thanks in advance again everyone.

Was this ever resolved? I was about to choose this drive for some work that I have in the near future but didn’t want to have any issues working with multiple drives. I will start off with one but I would hate to limit my options later in life. Thanks in advance! -
Can’t you open it up in QT & export them to a quicktime file format? That would probably be better than trying to use a wmv in fcp.

I have never had the time to do anything other than the QUICK & haven’t had any problems, cheers

You’ll have to use Fat32 which has it limitations. I forget off hand what is the max file size you can have. So you won’t be able to have extremely large clips because it won’t work. (Slightly under 4GB is what comes to mind) So as long as you aren’t capturing 30 straight minutes of footage you’ll be fine to use it in both worlds. I assume you are doing DV capturing cause SD would eat that HD space up in no time & would reach that 4 Gb limit in about 2 minutes of capturing.

Hey Jerry,
My sequences aren’t specific-some are uncompressed 8bit timelines, some animation, some DV, etc, etc.
When I am talking about my monitor I guess I should of said my computer monitor, I do these projects for internet only applications so I don’t need an external ntsc broadcast preview monitor like I have in the other suites for color correction for broadcasting sequences. -
The Xraid is considerably louder than my Medea RTRX SCSI drives. It could be a concern depending on room layout.

Do you have FCP 5? Try to make a multi-clip…Multicam Editing lets you “Simultaneously view and cut from multiple sources in real time, thanks to new multicam editing for DV, SD and HD. Group up to 128 sources together into multi-clips, then add or subtract cameras at any time for maximum flexibility. Switch from shot to shot, with or without effects, and auto-assemble sequences based on time-of-day timecode.”

Have you tried exporting through FCP or even Compressor? Are your results similar?
