Time remap? Set keyframes on the dancers layer where you want them to sync with the audio, then drag those key frames to match the beats of the audio… or something like that.

  • Is it because your computer screen has square pixels and the video your exporting has rectangle pixels?

Why not change your comp settings to HDTV 1080 29.97. It uses square pixels. What you see is what you get. Make it 4:3 safe, and you can crop it from 16:9 to 4:3 without changing anything.

Just got done trying that and it’s still not working.

The shot I’m working with is a pan that goes from left to right, making the objects in the frame go from screen left to screen right. There are no tracking points that remain within the frame throughout the entire pan.

I’ve tried tracking two points until they are just about to go off frame, moved the tracking points to new points, and continued tracking. After applying the track the footage jumps when the track was moved to the new points.

June 12, 2009 at 4:36 pm in reply to: Mask Expansion question

I never noticed that before and I can’t figure out why it does that.

Is the expansion absolutely necessary? What’s the effect you’re looking for? There’s probably a work around.

You could screw around with Mr. Mercury’s settings and turn it into a matte of some sort.

Not sure if those cameras have this feature, but setting the camera’s TIMECODE to FREE RUN and syncing them once at the beginning, even if it’s all the cameras pointed at someone clapping, will make changing tapes and editing simpler. And make sure all your camera’s are recording sound.

  • Try changing the render settings in After Effects to…

Output Module> Video Output> Color: STRAIGHT (UNMATTED)

It defaults to “color: Premultiplied (matted)” which does some funky things to alpha channels and their borders.
