I’m looking to have a figure melt away (like a wax candle really fast) in an After Effects project, but I’m not really sure how to do it.

Looking at some other topics, maybe Mr. Mercury could help in some way… but I’m not very good at understanding this technical stuff.

Can someone give me some pointers for performing this?

You could screw around with Mr. Mercury’s settings and turn it into a matte of some sort.

Depending on how realistic you need it to be you could use multiple copies of the layer with Mr. Mercury on some and other distort effects on others.

But making it in wax and melting it would be even better.
