You can also edit the text-file called “Adobe After Effects 6.5 Shortcuts”

    Dag Frank,

do a search for something like ‘indiana jones map’ and you’ll find tons of discussion about how to achieve effects like this.

    Hi Steve/ Belinda ?

I’m sorry to be the one to point this out to you:
But if you don’t know how to fade in one layer, then move it from point A to point B in after effects…
You haven’t spent 40 seconds reading the manual.

Please, please, take the time to read the manual, check out some tutorials for beginners (Kathlyn pointed you to an excellent one in another thread), perhaps even buy some other books or a trainig CD or DVD if you’re serious about After Effects.

As always, we’ll be happy to help you out when you need some help further down the road.

    greetz,

    Filip

Sometimes I use a very high frequency noise, and use a levels filter to crush it so bad that only a few points survive.
Blur that or use TrapCodes starglow, and then slowly animate the noise.

Doesn’t give you coloured stars though.

You might also do it the other way around:
start with some coloured stars (perhaps even one of the true starmaps you can download) and multiply a high contrast, low fequency noise over it, slowly animate that: it will ‘twinkle’ the existing stars by obscuring them.
screen/add/lighten some more stars over that don’t change, and add some starglow if you need more kitsch.

the Yale map in particular works well: it only shows the brightest stars.

  • If using echo doesn’t work out for you.
Try doing a motion track on the light-bulb, and use the resulting position as an effect-point for the Write-On effect.
Combine that with some glow and let it fade away in time.

I think the first scenario would work best if it’s like people sitting down in an auditorium or something like that.
If there’s more movement and more possibilities of people cross-secting or interacting at the edges: then greenscreen could help you.
ofcourse, take care of lighting- and especially perspective continuity between your background plate and your keyed footage.

  • Hi,

looks like the video was not interpreted as interlaced, rescaled vertically (by maybe even a tiny percentage), and then de-interlaced.

Does that look like a possibility, don’t know your workflow ?

    Hi,

I find it hard to visualize the problem, can you upload a picture of the logo somewhere so it’s clearer what should be foreground and what should be masked
