  • Thanks I’ll try but I’m not sure where to find them – any clues?

    Thanks for the response Jeremy
I have tried every possible easy set up and in doing so have discovered that my problem is confined only to selecting ProRes (SQ) as my capture preset. If I select anything else – including all other flavours of ProRes or 10/8 uncompressed – I can SEE and CAPTURE video. If I select ProRes SQ I just get shash. Weird.
I have started a new post on the FCP forum with this problem spelled out.
Does this make any sense to you?? Suggests it’s software though I guess.

For what it\’s worth I have successfully been using iChat theatre from my macpro and an old apple fw ext camera with a range of clients including one with no camera – a \’one way video chat\\\’. I have to say I think it is absolutely stunning and a huge leap forward for me. I have had comfortable creative conversations with directors – almost as good as sitting next to them. Surprised I haven\\\’t read more praise for this feature on the forums.

Just so as to minimise the amount of derision you will be pouring on me and others: could you detail how to do a clean ground up install of the OS without losing plugins and other apps? Thank you

Perhaps it is the fact that you have 9 gigs ram (rather than the recommended matched pairs) may be what is making this machine act up? I would remove one and see

Just state the VPL number on the clock information on your master

  • That sounds like a great plan. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for that. I’ll try that. I don’t really feel that I’m exactly pushing it with 8 channels of 48k audio in 40 second sequence. Hopefully this’ll sort it . Maybe there is a rogue corrupt file or something.

  • Thanks to both of you for the responses.
It is the later MacPro as far as I understand it. The LHe is in slot 3 which again I beleive is a 3lane one.
I don’t have expansion slot utility on my system and I have faint memory of being told that I don’t need it because it is the later MacPro – when I was installing my LHe. It has been working fine for 7 months up until this.
The only help I’ve had from AJA is being reminded to install the latest driver (I hadn’t) but this has made no difference.
Bit stuck now – any further suggestions would be gladly received.

  • Thanks for the response David
It seems on further investigation to be a problem with the Kona card since if I switch audio output to ‘Built in line out’ it’s all in sync and happy again.
Have emailed AJA and am waiting for a response
    Thanks again
