This happened to me last week and I couldn’t figure out why. Reformat the cards in the camera next time and see if it happens again.
I think I might have put the second card in the camera when the camera was already powered up so maybe that had something to do with it.Blog https://www.eriknaso.com

November 28, 2012 at 6:14 pm in reply to: Banding issues and a spot on the sensor of my AF100?Have a look at the ND filter. Might have a finger print on it. If it does clean it the same way you would clean a sensor.
If you push the codec to far you will get banding especially in the blue channel. AVCHD is only so good.

Focusing can be a pain. I use B&W in the EVF with focus in red. Works pretty well. The best combo is to use Lumix lenses and the push to focus feature on the camera. It’s not super fast auto focus but works very well. With Push to focus you select the focus area. Push the focus button and when it locks the lens goes back to manual. It’s nice to work with native lenses.

When I first got the AF-100 I used older Nikon manual lenses and they worked very well. Canon EF mount has issues unless you use an electronic adapter to control aperture. I recomned staying with Nikon and native lenses. The Panasonic Lumix MFT lenses are very good and work with all the controls of the camera. With the new 12-35 and 35-100 you pretty much are covered and both are 2.8, OIS and parfocal. Add the 7-14 and call it a day. I use the GH2 camera as well so having native lenses for both are a plus.

MFT got two very good friends this year. The 12-35 and the 35-100. With both these very sharp fast 2.8 lenses you have a great range to work with. The best part is they are native lenses for both the GH2 and AF-100. I have both. well I will have the 35-100 tomorrow.
With the added benefit of image stabilization these are the best you can get for a light weight digital cinema camera. They aren’t cheap but these Lumix lenses are the L class of Panasonic. Don’t take OIS for granted. It smooths out those handheld shots a lot. Especially since these cameras aren’t the easiest to handhold.Blog https://www.eriknaso.com

I think it’s because the AVCHD format is consumer not professional.
I’ve had issues as well with media going offline in Premiere Pro CS6. When I opened the project Ppro is asking where clip oooo1 is. Have to cancel and relink in the project. I have four SD cards. Each cards bin name was the same as the SD cards name in the project making relinking easier.Blog https://www.eriknaso.com

Tom you recommend uninstalling AJA Kona card driver when updating only the AJA Adobe plugin? I Want to make sure I get this right the first time.

Agree 100% Patrick. I have the same issue with AVCCAM Viewer software. Most of the time the AVCCAM software gives errors so it renders its self useless.
If only Panasonic had implemented the same P2 viewer software for AVCHD that would be great. With more AVCHD cameras out now you would think a better solution would be available.Blog https://www.eriknaso.com
