Create a 16:9 Anamorphic sequence, drop your Letterbox footage in there and scale it up by 33%.
Export as a 16:9 Anamorphic sequence.
You will loose some resolution but you’ll have to live with that.

    Cheers,

Make sure you have the right settings in System Settings/Blackmagic Decklink.
    Should be Analog Y, B-Y, R-Y and NOT Analog NTSC/PAL (Y in).

It also happens when quicktime is running.
Quit everything but FCP and all should be fine.
If not, do a restart and open ONLY FCP.

Hi Kristian and thanks for the quick response.
Yes, everything is working now after a restart.
Your response clarified a lot since I often work simultaneously in FCP and After Effects
and going back and fort between them.
So, is there something I can do to prevent this “General Error” hassle or is
    that something to just accept?
It’s extremely annoying when sitting with a customer and not quite know what happens.

Anyway, everything working at the moment…

    Thanks again,

    Hi!
We use Belle-nuit subtitler and it is a great and inexpensive subtitling tool for both FCP and DVD production.

Have you tried exporting the transition as a QT and see if the problem remains?
I’ve had similar problems with Freeze frames, and it went away on export.
