I have a Blackmagi Decklink SP capture card that is acting up. I use this to monitor video by going directly to a Sony Bectacam SP UVW-1800 Deck and from there into the monitor (Sony HR Trintron). I haven’t had any problems until today. I needed to view a Beta Tape, but as soon as I took the tape out and went back into FCP, the picture that was sent out to my monitor was black and white and a little bit scrambled. I didn’t change any settings. I have tried powering off the deck and restarting my computer but nothing is working. I also completely disconnected the capture card cables, but NOTHING!!!

I have no problems when playing back a tape in the deck, but when I send a signal from FCP or any other application that allows this, the signal is black an white and scrambled. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated!!!

Okay, it looks like it’s a problem with the deck and not the card. My monitor has component inputs and I hooked up straight to that with no problem. Is there a setting in the deck that might have gone crazy? The deck has black burst going to it, so I don’t see what the problem could be…

    Brian,

I have seen this with BM Extreme. It has happened to me when things got too hot (temp). I’m in FL and our AC went out last summer for a day. I got, what seems to be, the same B&W scrambled signal you describe for a while. Shut down, left it cool and opened up the cover of my old G4 and let it run with cover open and a fan on it and viola` until the AC was fixed. I was on a deadline of course. I don’t know if heat is a factor in your equation or not.

Make sure you have the right settings in System Settings/Blackmagic Decklink.
    Should be Analog Y, B-Y, R-Y and NOT Analog NTSC/PAL (Y in).
