Wouldn’t Autodesk be a better fit?
They don’t seem to have an in with the Hardware side of things.
We have a few seats in Maya and use MC/Symphony and Pro Tools for finishing.
Of course I say Black Magic second 🙂

    Jeremy exactly my thoughts:
[Jeremy Garchow] ” It was a broad tool used to manipulate/playback video and not necessarily to edit. Fcp is present on almost every shoot I go on in some form or another and by many people who aren’t editors, but rather are in the production side of the business. This contributed to its overwhelming popularity, and accounts for all of those “users”. I’m not sure if Avid enjoys that kind of use.”
In the past it was always FCS in the design field and Avid in studios that most designers arent allowed to walk into.
Well that was my take on it when I first got into this.
All the Avid folks were elitist up here in Canada back in the day thanks to the CBC 😛

This is what I love about the new FCPX.
That grass roots feeling when others offer up their help and expertise.
    Thanks Andreas!

  • Im not sure if this will help but at reboot option there is a button (Lion) that asks if you want the same windows up at restart.
I had this prob with FCPX booting up on its own at restart.
    Maybe itll stop that process?
Also try the Activity Monitor when FCPX is running.
See if you can kill whatever is going on.

Not sure if the XSan section at the bottom of this page helps:

If iTunes offered up live Sports then cable is done for me.
I pay close to 100 a month on cable alone and honestly only watch sports.
But I still would like the option of seeing others (CreativeCow Creatives) work on the boob tube 🙂

Im curious as to how this rMBP works with an Apple Cinema 30 (if its even possible) or (uggh the glare) Apple 27 TB.

  • If you have Bridge installed from Adobe you can use that as a preview app.

Diego you will find that spec on most apps and they are at a min.
FW800 is also not viable as far as my experiences go with any HD and up Digital Video format.
That was fine for SD back in the day.
Do you have an eSATA option for that G-Tech?
    I use a 1TB and 4TB GRAID eSATA to a MBP.
Formats such as ProRes422 runs pretty smooth thank to eSATA.
Even edit in 4K ProRes4444 but thats pushing it 🙂
