  • FCPX will not export – cannot cancel previous project in share monitor

Posted by Scott Xavier higgins on June 27, 2012 at 8:45 am

FCPX is absolutely locked and blocked with a project stuck in my Share Monitor – it has been cancelling it for 5 hours to no avail. As a result nothing will export, not even going to compressor – everything waits for the “cancelled file” to cancel which it will not do. Any help is welcome – I have shut down, rebooted countless times – at the point of wiping the program as it has become entirely useless.
    grateful for ANY suggestions

I would run DiskWarrior on your system and media drives first. This means starting from the DiskWarrior DVD, get it from Alsoft.com if you don’t have it yet, and make sure it is the latest version. It seems likely you have a HD directory problem. Also repair the permissions on your drives in Disc Utility.

I would also trash the FCPX prefs and initially remove the bad project from the Finall Cut Projects folder on your drive, try removing the Event from the Final Cut Event Folder as well. Just to see if FCPX is OK w/o this project and media open.

I hope this helps, let us know.

Im not sure if this will help but at reboot option there is a button (Lion) that asks if you want the same windows up at restart.
I had this prob with FCPX booting up on its own at restart.
    Maybe itll stop that process?
Also try the Activity Monitor when FCPX is running.
See if you can kill whatever is going on.

I would also try to kill the process. If you launch activity monitor fro your utilities folder, there should be a CompressorTranscoder process. I’d kill anything with compressor, reboot, then try again.

If you still have the problem i would give this a try. Finish FCPX if open. Go to Final Cut Projects folder and look for the projects folder with the name of the project you tried to share something from. In that folder find the share folder. Trash everything in that.(this is where FCPX stores “shared” files) Start and see if something changed in behavior.

Try opening Compressor then go to the menu Compressor>reset background processes then choose reset and cancel. That should stop the batch stuck “canceling” in share monitor. Reboot.
