For RED projects I try to stay as high as possible ProRes444 but very rare since FCPX and RED has been playing nice for years now.
But for HD ProRes422 is my choice.

Do you permissions to save to your internal drive?

You can always use an external drive.

If it doesnt see it, make a folder at top root named “Avid MediaFiles”.

Tom how about rebooting the host after an hour to refresh the UltraStudio?

We have one here but dont have a 4K display yet (tested a few).

With FCPX I dont have that problem using a Flanders HD, Sony PVM HD and NEC HD LCD at the same time even after hours of use.

However I tend reboot it anyways just in case.

I still cant get Premiere to work using the UltraStudio 4K and with Avid we get the annoying BOB error but it at least works.

I will try the same steps with just the MXF in the MXF folder and leave the AAF to another.

I did notice that the MXF files being read are the R3Ds (AMA) and not a copy.

I hope that made sense.

Yep you haven’t had fun with Avid till you try and deduce a corrupt file from 100 thousand plus spread across over a dozen sub-folders 😛

Keep in mind (not sure if this is still the norm) that the file number limitation is supposed to be under 5000 per folder.

These posts are nice but most of us having been doing this for over a year now and I think its time to put these to rest.
Mind you I just posted how giddy I was that current Director sent me an FCPX XML and how easy it was to open on my system (shared project).
Stuff we all know should have been dealt with on June 2011 but that’s all a faded memory now 😉

Download MPEG StreamClip and convert to a different file.

Test other formats even use the same but make sure its a diff file.

Files do corrupt.

I just did a test using UHD AAF to Resolve 11.2.
I selected DNxHR 444 and rendered it to a new folder.
Then dragged the new AAF and rendered files to a new MediaFiles bin to avoid clutter.
The files didnt load automatically but a drag and drop to a new bin (again to avoid clutter) imported all the files and noticed the AMA linked R3Ds in that new bin.
The sequence seems intact with my grading test but only plays back at yellow level.
No 4K display to play with at the moment 🙁
Am I doing this right?
