Tom currently dealing with Tech Support on this matter.
With our RED ROCKET, we cant seem to play nice with the UltraStudio4K.
We are trying to use a Sony X830B LED 4K Display via HDMI but it just wont play nice with the ROCKET.
Both RED and BMD are sending me emails at a 24hr pace 😛
Finally talked to BMD (phone) on this and so far in theory it should work.
The also suggested getting a HD-SDI to HDMI 4K converter straight out of the ROCKET SDI to the display.

I thank BMD for their late delivery on the Cinema 2.5K back in 2012.
I had two ordered then cancelled when the RED Scarlet BT was announced 😉
Now for me, a decent clear working 4K display system from the UltraStudio 4k without having to arm wrestle cables and converters 😛

You can physically move your Libraries anywhere on any mounted drive.
Just use the Open Library option.
Avoid duplicates though.

With my RED projects I have multiple SAS RAIDs and spread the wealth of Events/Libraries using “Leave files in place” option during Import.

Most of our Mac Pro 2012 and older are matched with Quadro 4000s.
Some are paired with the stock AMD and works great with both FCPX and Adobe CC.
The older Resolve station had three Quadro 4000s in a CUBIX XPANDER.

With new Mac Pro, we put that station to rest.

Not running Resolve as well as the previous but current workflow doesn’t require the GPU power for Resolve.

I would also suggest a larger internal HD for those last minute project that need break neck speed I/O.

With our Mac Pro we can get over 900MBs on read/write off the 1TB Flash.

This at times comes in handy when having to process 4K and up material within FCPX.

Most of my projects sit on a GTECH 8TB GRAID2 or the Pegasus but in case the drives are OFFLINE the internal just does the job in a pinch.

Just clean it up after you are done.

Friends dont let friends work off the system drive 😉

I just noticed this with video clips in ProRes422 format.
Once I do a trim the GUI freezes and then the app closes down.
Not sure if I can replicate it but I never have this problem with R3D files.

You can work with the cheapest affordable display now (I wouldnt IMHO) and upgrade to whatever is affordable later (4K and up)
The nMP has a lot more offer if you grow.
Just the ability to add more displays and peripherals.
We use a two Sonnet Echo Express III-R (rackmount version) thats home to:
REDROCKET
BMD UltraStudio 4K (via Thunderbolt 2)
BMD Extreme DeckLink
Pro Tools HDX
ATTO SAS R680

Just cant beat the future options with the nMP.

And since you posted a kick ass config, I see you mean business 🙂

The above runs FCPX, Avid, Pro Tools, Resolve, Adobe CC 2014 and then some.

Is the 5000 file folder limit still in effect?

Im not sure when I was told but it was Avid support that put that in my head.
