March 3, 2015 at 5:53 amI assume this is one of the gigs mentioned in your post last week(?) about FCP X work in LA.

March 3, 2015 at 6:17 amNo, I don’t THINK it’s the same thing. But then again, I don’t know it’s not.
The “looking for X editors” thing last week crossed my radar after getting a note from Sam Mestman at FCPWorks via Facebook because I’m friends with those guys and they’re looking for X editors for LA clients, as far as I know.
I have no clue as to whether or not todays NBC thing is related at all. Nobody mentioned NBC Universal in any way during the original stuff. So I have no knowledge of whether FCPWorks has any relationship to it or not.
I saw the NBC Universal thing on a link somebody posted at 6pm today on FCP.co
That’s all.

Seems to be a few positions involved, so we now have full employment for all LA/NYC based “Professional” FCP X editors! 😉

March 4, 2015 at 12:40 amHave a friend who edits at an NBC Owned station local news operation and it appears they are switching (or considering) from FCP 7 to FCP X simply because of the licensing costs – Some of the editors aren’t happy…some are…saying it’s ideal for run and gun cut cut news and voice over work. The editors aren’t being consulted…this appears to be a top down, this is the cheapest solution edict.

I would agree with the latter. Anything that is short-form interview with b-roll on top is almost always done in FCPX on my end.

It’s also ideal for really long projects too. 😀

Yep, I am currently working on some hour long pieces, although they aren’t complicated (2 angle multicam stuff).

Rumor has it, that even an ENTIRE FEATURE was cut on it…
