    Thanks, Michael.

My experiences with missing clips is that you can see the edit points as well as a red missing clip spacer. In this case it just disappears as if it never was edit.

The clips that are there create the in and out of the missing clips.

Anyhoo I’ve since fixed this issue but with no idea as to how.

I just reopened the offending DRP file (inherited project) and started over again with the export.

I am not sure, but wasn’t there a way to export just the FCPX XML and reconnect using original source footage?

I dont think Ive done that to date.

Depends on your computers IO ports.

    Go with the fastest possible.

    RAID for sure.
Since I’m on different setups (2013 Mac Pro, 2019 Mac Pro, and M1 MBP), I use a variety of Thunderbolt 2/4 drives and USB-3/C single drives.

My most reliable single SSD is the OWC Envoy Pro.

As far as RAID, I have a few OWC ThunderBays and Promise Pegasus RAIDs.

External drives are as good as your host CPU.

The killer setup on my 2019 Mac Pro is the internal RAID card with NVMes.

Again depends on what you have.

  • Not sure you can install Dynamic Link on its own.
I would do a complete clean install.

Remove all Adobe products and start over.

    How about CC 2024?

I had luck on an M1 w/Ventura but on 2023.

I would need to test on my own.

However, all my M1s are on Sonoma now.

    Crossing fingers.

Depending on the platform, Google how to reset preferences.

FCPX is my go-to now for sheer speed.

I still have to cut with Avid MC and Premiere (client-driven).

They all haven’t been updated to my liking but they all still work.

As long as we have options, I am fine.

Select suspect footage > right-click and create a sequence.

It will default to the footage aspect ratio, frame rate, etc…

Then check what the sequence settings are.

Did you try selecting all clips in Project (Timeline) and placing in a CC (Compound Clip)?

    You can easily export that.

Edit: I call it Project even though its a sub sequence timeline.

It all depends on the motion graphics part of your scenes.

If you are zooming 2x or more then yeah it has to be saved at a larger pixel size.

I am not sure where you heard that it’s not a good idea but it’s required if you are scaling images.

There are things to consider such as the type of image scaled.

Photos, vector artwork, etc.. are all subject to pixelation no matter what size you think you have it at.

  • I instruct at a local college on the side and it boggles my mind when they don’t teach the importance of using Layers in both InDesign and Illustrator.

The years I’ve spent receiving artwork from all levels of designers and I rarely get a file that’s clean.
