Why not buy a small Canon or Panasonic camera with HDMI out and connect that to an Intensity Pro card. Bypass tape altogether and record to the hard drive in Pro Res or some uncompressed format. That file would be much better to key from.

Try shutting down your computer. Remove all cables from firewire and usb ports. Unplug power cable from computer. Let sit for 15 minutes. Plug everything back in. See if that resets the computer.

That’s North Carolina for you. Same thing here in Wilmington. Client drives a Hummer around and has all these deals in the works but is hesitant to pay your day rate for a professional when a friend of his will do for a 6 pack. Go figure.

In After Effects try the different time effects. One will work.

I think the easiest way at present is to buy the Blackmagic Intensity card and come in throught the HDMI out of the camera. FCP does not yet handle AVCHD throught an import dialogue box. Sony HDV cameras are a possibility with firewire.

You can transcode the files to any codec you want through Compressor. I don’t know much about AVC intra, but shooting 720/24 with the HVX200 file sizes were only 1.5 time bigger than standard DV files. I don’t think that is a bad trade off for working in HD.
