Not sure how much of a footprint the Element has compared to the Eclipse, but I believe they are similar… i have a Pelican 1700, Fits the Eclipse perfectly, with room for the power supply. The one I got didn’t come with the fancy cubed foam, and I had to cut into the lid foam a smidge, but all in all, very pleased.

Also, have you pushed the little network/server globe on the bottom left of the project pane? It allows you to select different databases and look through the different users and each users projects…

This sounds like what you’ve been looking for… it looks very similar to how the project pane looked in v8, in a v9 kind of way….. but it may be just different enough…

Which SSD is it? Is it in the 2nd optical bay or HDD 1?

When you import the XML, is the “automatically import source clips to media pool” option selected? If it is, try importing the xml without it selected.

You will have to relink, or force conform from folder, but it will get you going…

Can’t you just build an empty project setup correctly, export it, then import it and copy it’s config to your system config? Or at least use it to make a default preset?

Then you just need to keep a project on your desktop, or wherever, and import, copy, create for every new DB…

  • If your colorist is using v9.1.1, ask him to export using the “generate new AAF” option….

It may not be complete from a filter standpoint, haven’t really tested that kind of thing, but at least the work will end up in a timeline that has a basic resemblance to your cut. Then it’s just a matter of copying filters, and re-doing some timewarps…

I was saying if cost not compatability were factors.

Resolve will not work with AJA hardware.

  • One thing I would try is “committing multi-cam edits” (pretty sure that’s the Avid term…) Resolve isn’t to fond of groups/multicam etc…

February 8, 2013 at 11:20 pm in reply to: how to import configuration settings in DAVINCI 9

You created an entirely new database?… is the old one still around? Can you add it to your system, upgrade it then access it?

Or back up the old one from whatever machine it’s on, and import/add/restore… whatever the language is and work like that…

Or am I missing your question at a basic level?

You can always do the clunky version… for the basic setups, save as presets… then you only need to import once…

Your clips would be like that if set to project, because they should be using the raw settings set in your project settings. Then if they need further tweeking on an individual level you would change the required clips from project to clip.

Also, this is covered fairly well in the manual. Chapter 7, i believe.
