Hello All,
That answers that one!
Thanks,
EricP.S. I see your name (Shane) on many newsgroups and discussions, when do you get time to edit? 🙂

Hello Shane et al,
I just had a thought after reading your post above. I have some footage shot with a Canon HV20 in its 24p mode and it really is 1080/60i. My plan is to convert it to 1080/24p. Do I (or should I) remove the pull-down as you mention in the post above using Cinema Tools? I have used a process using Compressor that “converts” the 1080/60i to Apple ProRes422. The workflow then was to import the ProRes422 clips into a new sequence in FCP on a 24 (23.976) timeline. Does the conversion to ProRes422 remove the pulldown?
Thanks,
Eric

Hello There,
I am trying a similar thing, but at a lower level.
I know (I will guess that you know this as well) there are at least two ways to use ProRes422 with captured clips, Convert to ProRes422 using a Compressor based workflow, and Alan Tepper’s 16 step workflow using Cinema tools.Check these links:
(semi lo-tech), but good info:
https://eugenia.gnomefiles.org/2007/07/13/canon-hv20-24p-pulldown/https://allantépper.biz/sub5k/Stupid-Smart.html
Apple’s site:
https://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306389This helped me, at least from an information point of view. I still have to master the using one (or both) of these processes.

Hello,
Again Thanks for the information. Maybe one day I will be familiar enough to provide answers to questions, instead of asking questions!

Hello Russ,
Thanks for the information. I have used the interval feature for the HVX (i have yet to check the footage!).I used a Canon HV20 to record about 10 minutes of sunrise (real time aka real slow) and would like to chop up the frames to shorten about 10 minutes of “sunrise” to about 30secs or so. I am thinking it might not work to well increasing the “speed” of the clip in FCP, like to 200 percent, etc.
Thanks Again,
eric

Hello Walter,
Thanks for the reply. Actually, in my case, I have it checked and my issue is that although it is checked, it does not open the last project! I will uncheck it, and maybe it will open the last project! Thanks for the help this forum provides,

Your clips may be too long. FCP “prefers” to capture short clips.
What capture method are you using? Capture Now, etc…Also, do you have your system prefs set to keep the computer and disk drives from “going to sleep”, no screen saver etc.
Those are worth checking. If you can break your tape capture in to smaller clips, that will help.
