  • Capture problems- I can only see part of the clip I captured

I am trying to log and capture several mini dv tapes on final cut pro and something strange is happening. On some of the tapes, when I open the clip in the bin after capturing, I can only see about 11 minutes of it, although it is supposed to be an hour long. And when I go to the original files and open them in quicktime pro, I can see the whole one-hour clip.
Other tapes are captured just fine although I have the exact same settings for all and I have used the same camera to shoot everything (DVX100B).
I would really appreciate any help on that matter!

    Hello There Sarah,

Your clips may be too long. FCP “prefers” to capture short clips.
What capture method are you using? Capture Now, etc…

Also, do you have your system prefs set to keep the computer and disk drives from “going to sleep”, no screen saver etc.

Those are worth checking. If you can break your tape capture in to smaller clips, that will help.
