::hedslap:: There it is. Thanks. (The # of times I’ve forgotten this….. ? )

But what do people on laptops w/o a numeric pad do?

  • Excellent answer, good work!

    Thanks SO much! It’s perfect.

I note that the white circles have expressions on *dozens* of parameters to hook them up with their ‘parents’. It seems unlikely that you went to all that bother, so did you use some kind of cloning tool?

I noticed this because when I made a working copy of the comp, the expressions were hardcoded to a comp name, rather than using “thisComp.name”

Seven years later, just what I needed. THANKS. ?

  • Thanks: TIL that you can have separate blend modes for fill/stroke!

I wound up parenting layers with empty fills because me no mograph so gud. If I were to redo this I’d just use ADD for the white strokes.

    Thanks for the help!

Thanks Walter and Liran: I (vaguely) remember seeing a presentation at Adobe HQ on just this feature, but it had slipped my mind. A very helpful reminder, thanks.

(Trying to use “Change Color” or whatever it is is NOT very much fun.)

Actually (and I find this often the case when asking questions) the second half of my post pretty much supplied my answer: precomp the shape layer, add some lines on top. D’oh!

It was just for alignment purposes, nothing fancy. Thanks for your reply.

…YEARS LATER… (for the next user who finds this…)

After making the SYMMETRY OBJECT Editable (“c”), use “JOIN SEGMENTS”, or you will have a spline with Starts/Ends at both ends.

  • You da man! Thanks for alleviating me of the necessity to learn to script in Yet Another Animation Package (YAAP).

  • Oh, if one remembers to make an all-points selection set BEFORE running the script, one can re-invoke that set and INVERT to Select the new center points.
