That is a cool feature, and I’m sure I’ll find a use for it thanks to you, but doesn’t it still leave me with a problem if I want to have 10pxl border guides around all my different resolution pictures?

But thanks for the tip: I didn’t know you could do that!

  • Yeah, the 16bit is probably the issue.

Since it sounds like you’re going to PAL, is there any reason NOT to change to 24bit RGB? That can be an Action step too, no doubt.

And Actions do not necessarily overwrite the original material.

    Sweet! Good idea! Thanks.

Are there any other methods? I like to have more than one bullet in the clip….

  • Piece of cake. Read up on ACTIONS and BATCH operations in your manual. I do this all the time, converting big PSDs to med & small JPGs.

As to not having an option to save….bizarre. If there are PATHS in your file, that might be the problem. But if you FLATTEN layers and kill all paths, RGB mode, you should be able to save as anything. Also, SAVE COPY might allow you.

Try your BATCH ACTION first on a small, temp directory–, sometimes it’s tricky to understand the saving options.

Photoshop. (7) Thank you very much.

CTRL-J it was. That info in hand, I went to see if i could reasonably have expected to have FOUND that information without the kind assistance of other users.

The answer was: no, the Help files do not, IMNSHO, reasonably make this information findable. YMMV.

WHY “Paste In Place” is not the DEFAULT behaviour of “Paste”, I cannot concieve.

Yeah, that’s right: object to new tools.

April 2, 2005 at 1:09 am in reply to: What is the difference between ALPHA and LUMA?

[Daniel Haskett] “what is the difference between luma and alpha? Just because when I do stencil luma on a drawing it works, as it takes out the drawing from the layer beneath, however when I do stencil alpha it does nothing. Just wondering what the difference is between the two. Also when you have a layer with stencil luma, it affects all layers below it, but is there a way of picking a layer beneath it and saying I dont want it to affect that layer? I read somewhere about nesting a composition, but I dont know what that is?”

All these questions are answered in the manual.
