Yes, that does seem to be true Kevin.

Also, the fact that even when you can extend the track by leaving it at the 0 point, the track is still limited to the original length of the comp is weak. However, it seems if you reset the lenght after TRemapping, the track is extended to the new length.

All this MAY have been fixed in AE CS3, I don’t know.

Already did– there’s nothing to it. It’s just a dead simple PSD file, with an alpha channel in the shape of a hexagon. No paths, no nuthin.

This effect is somehow layer based, because duplicating and staggering the layers staggers the transition to the nodal appearance, so it’s not a “preview-global” effect. I figured it’s some feature of AE7 I’m not familiar with.

Holding down the SHIFT key while dragging gives you a HORIZONTAL or VERTICAL line, not a “straight” line.

Clicking, then holding down the shift key and clicking AGAIN gives you a straight line at any angle. with the brush, but with no preview, which is very lame.

Unless there’s a way to draw a line (or curve) WITH a custom brush, it wouldn’t work. Sometimes those basic programs can do stuff easily that is extremely involved in Photoshop. And buying another 700 dollar program (Illustrator) seems silly.

Fortunately, googling “extruded text photoshop” brings up a lot of rather involved ways of doing it. Like I said, 8-bit programs do this much easier. Rather amusing, really.

Considering that the old Deluxe Paint could do this in a snap (Grab anything, use it as a brush, draw lines, curves, arcs with it)….. frustrating.

Not in 7.0 it ain’t. And something I could look over to would IMO be more workflow friendly.

For that matter, I’d like two-level tooltips too: the existing short reminder, plus a longish tooltip that included things like brush sizing info– i.e. related stuff. 0.25 seconds, you get the existing tooltip. 1.0 sec, you get the long version. 3 seconds, it launches HELP at that tool’s entry.

I actually had a paint app that would do the first two– it was sweet.
