I’m an experienced AE user, but I musta missed the memo on this:

When checking a Lesson in CIAB: AE6, I loaded a simple PSD, a simple hexagon.

At frame 3:08 in my composition, the hexagon changes to an outline with a definite vector look: the vertices of the hexagons are little solid circles.

I figure this is some obscure feature new in 7: what am I missing.

Sound like Vegas being put into action. Why not look under the hood to see what’s been used for the said layer?

Already did– there’s nothing to it. It’s just a dead simple PSD file, with an alpha channel in the shape of a hexagon. No paths, no nuthin.

This effect is somehow layer based, because duplicating and staggering the layers staggers the transition to the nodal appearance, so it’s not a “preview-global” effect. I figured it’s some feature of AE7 I’m not familiar with.

    Obi-wan! Help me!
