  • Markers inside shape layers?

Posted by Eric Chard on January 31, 2021 at 2:26 am

I’m generating 4 identical, circular shape layers, and want to have internal markers at halves, thirds, quarters, for ease of arrangement. These markers will not be in the render.

This would be easy in a regular, pixel layer, but I’m at a loss on how to achieve it in Shape Layers. Is it possible to get a pre-comp of a shape layer that is only the size (bounding box) of the shape?

I’d probably use expression-driven null layers in this case. Can you post a reduced project or at least a screenshot showing how you’re trying to use this?

Actually (and I find this often the case when asking questions) the second half of my post pretty much supplied my answer: precomp the shape layer, add some lines on top. D’oh!

It was just for alignment purposes, nothing fancy. Thanks for your reply.
