  • While it’s TECHNICALLY there, the implications of having this box checked are not, AFAICT, addressed at all.

That being, on some systems, it’s going to be very frackin’ inconvenient and introduce a slow-down whenever the user changes applications away from Vegas. “Whenever” meaning every damn time.

Kinda huge. On my system, fairly quick, with this project (~240 clips), it’s like ten seconds.

  • Holy MOLY, that is going to make SUCH a huge difference in my workflow. (And I don’t know how one would even search for such a topic in the Help, assuming it’s even there.)

Thanks Mike, you are a sterling resource here for Vegas users!!!

    Grazie mille!

Looks to me like a bunch of stuff simultaneously: some flashing, lotta time changing, offset with loop-around. Not any one effect.

    Thanks Mike.

I really don’t see the functionality of that setting in the Trimmer window. What were they thinking???

I still have to move the cursor at least one frame to get the zone to go away, but heigh-ho.

March 14, 2012 at 5:22 am in reply to: Logitech G13 as controller for Sony Vegas?

Sadly, the little joystick on the G13 emits keypresses, not an analogish value, but you can use it for the jog controls (J, K, & L).

Which I’m doing. Works fine (why wouldn’t it?). The big advantage is mapping two logical keys on the edge of the G13 as “CTRL+HOME” and “CTRL+END”. That’s nice. There’s seven keys in that row (G8>>G14), so I have:

    JUMP>START/(blank)/JOG BACK/JOG PAUSE/JOG FORWARD/(blank)/JUMP>END

All in one row. No doubt I’ll figure out uses for the blanks soon.

I use my G13 with LightWave a lot, at least in Modeler. It’s a very nice addition. It can also memorize sequences of keypress, not just individual keypresses, so that has possibilities too.

March 10, 2012 at 7:50 pm in reply to: “Rating” column: meaning?

Ahhh well, more room in the PM window. Thanks for the clarification. (it’d be nice if mentioned in the dox, but nooooooooooooo….. )

I find the COMMENT field to be VERY useful indeed in the context of logging media — indispensable really, if I’m going to be as paperless as possible.

Logging and searching seems to be a rather neglected aspect of SVMS11P. A semi-separate logging facility would be welcome, and the ability to search comments and assign tags to media would be a good addition.

Looking at the fields available as Columns in the PM window, there’s a heavy engineer-centric, versus EDITOR-centric, feel to what is available. TAGS would be especially good.

Or so it seems to this noob.

Thanks. By ‘secondary display’ do you mean second monitor?

    Appreciated.

    Noob here, seeking knowledge:

So, you can apply filters/FX in the Project Media panel to globally affect clips? And also separatly, event by event, in the Timeline?

  • OK, here’s the scoop:

This function will work EXCEPT in the following cases:

    dblclik on the filename
    dblclik on the comment field
dblclik on the numeric indicator on the far left

Any other field will load the clip into the Trimmer.

The first two are defensible, esp #2, but the last one doesn’t make any sense that I can see: is there some other function for the NUMBER that would make double-clicking it to load into the Trimmer undesirable? Currently I don’t see any function besides highlight the line, which is nice but works w/single click fine.

IMO, double clicking the filename SHOULD work, because renaming the clip seems more of a RMB function. YMMV. I use the Comment field rather than the filename to document/log the clips.

On VIDEO COPILOT there’s a tutorial on how to do this using AE.

Of course, you need rights to the images first.
