  • “Double click on media file loads into Trimmer instead of tracks”- not working (SVMS11P)

In SVMS11P Preferences/General there’s the above checkbox, which I have enabled:

“Double click on media file loads into Trimmer instead of tracks”

However, this is not working. In this case I’m double clicking in the Project Media panel.

Rather than opening the file in the trimmer, the PM panel is giving me an opportunity to rename the file, ie the Name field becomes active.

I’d very much like for the clip to open in the Trimmer, and I do NOT want to use the Auto-open toggle, because it functions incorrectly in that:
    1) the clip name is not displayed correctly in the Trimmer window title bar, and
    2) the clip is not added to the Trimmer history dropdown.

Have other users successfully used “Double click on media file loads into Trimmer instead of tracks”??

(I hope this isn’t one of those things rebooting will cure– I’ve already checked and a relaunch does not fix it.)

    OK, here’s the scoop:

This function will work EXCEPT in the following cases:

    dblclik on the filename
    dblclik on the comment field
dblclik on the numeric indicator on the far left

Any other field will load the clip into the Trimmer.

The first two are defensible, esp #2, but the last one doesn’t make any sense that I can see: is there some other function for the NUMBER that would make double-clicking it to load into the Trimmer undesirable? Currently I don’t see any function besides highlight the line, which is nice but works w/single click fine.

IMO, double clicking the filename SHOULD work, because renaming the clip seems more of a RMB function. YMMV. I use the Comment field rather than the filename to document/log the clips.

I wonder if you ever resolved this. I prefer to double-click the file to place it in the track. It was working fine until this morning when double clicking the file name opens the file name to rename it. Following your suggestion, it does work now when double-clicking other fields.

Thinking of doing a reset to defaults, but I’m worried about losing my custom FX packages in Plugin Chooser.
